7 Horror Films to Watch on Your Birthday!

Herein lies the inspiration for this post: my birthday is coming up this weekend.

Happy Birthday to Me (1981)
How could this one not be on the list? The poster really just says it all. What an incredible tagline. I actually haven’t seen this film, so I apologize if it sucks. Instead, you can just look at the poster on your birthday if you want. And I hear this one is being remade.

Planet Terror (2007)
This is one of the most fun movies ever made, but has nothing to do with birthdays. The sight of Freddy Rodriguez on a mini-bike is sure to put a smile on any Birthday Girl/Boy’s face though! Not to mention, you could cook up some of J.T.’s BBQ to celebrate…that is if you can get the recipe.

Bloody Birthday (1981)
Ok. I’m really cheating. I haven’t seen this one either, but I did watch the trailer and it looks pretty awesome. Just check out this plot summary from IMDB:
In 1970, three children are born at the height of a total eclipse. Due to the sun and moon blocking Saturn, which controls emotions, they have become heartless killers ten years later, and are able to escape detection because of their youthful and innocent facades. A boy and his teenage sister become endangered when they stumble onto the bloody truth.

The Omen (1976)
This might not be the most “fun” thing to watch on your birthday, but it’s a spectacular film. Who doesn’t love Gregory Peck? And if you happened to be born on June 6th at 6 o’clock…even better!

Freddy v. Jason (2003)
There is no better way to celebrate a birthday than to divide your guests into factions rooting for their favorite horror icon. Some good drinking games to boot: drink every time you see bad acting, a shot every time someone says “Hypnosil,” and a bottle of Jack when Jason wins! After the movie is over, you can have a lively debate over who really won…We all know it was Jason. :P

Hatchet (2006)
They called it the return to old school, red-blooded American horror. They were right. Every guest will be sure to enjoy watching Kane Hodder use a belt sander on someone’s face! Then you can eat some cake.

Candyman (1992)
Another film that doesn’t fall into the “fun” category, but it’s a movie that will set a creepy tone for the evening. You can urge your birthday patrons to say “Candyman” five times in the bathroom mirror. Then lock them inside and see what happens.

  5. My brother got to you first...but Happy Birthday from me, too! Hope it was a good one. And he's right, "Happy Birthday to Me" is a wonderful disaster. The poster is freakin' awesome, though.
